It all started over 100 years ago on an island that smells like oranges and the sea. Giovanni Giuffré’s hands are great and wise and are always busy kneading, creating, adding a personal touch. They are the early twentieth century and there is no person in the province of Messina who does not know his sweet creations and is not in love with his creams. Years go by, in the air the same scent of oranges, around the sea of the same island. We are in the 50s, still in Messina, in the beautiful Sicily. The hands of Giovanni are flanked by those of Stellario, his son, and with him the passion continues, is amplified, ends up on everyone’s lips. Confectioners and ice-cream makers from all over Italy arrive down to Sicily, at the court of Giuffrè, to learn the art of making sweets and do it with love.
Alessandro Giuffre is the great-grandson of Giovanni, and Stellario is his grandfather. He was born in Rome, far from the orange trees and the smell of the sea. But the passions are known, they are handed down even stronger than a surname and Alexander.
